Battery World Aussie Racing Car Super Series to feature large contingent in Tasmania

Featuring its largest field in Tasmania for nearly a decade, the Battery Aussie Racing Cars Super Series returns to Symmons Plains Raceway with the title fight ignited after Townsville.

A 29-entry field has been confirmed to race in Tasmania this weekend, eclipsing last year’s field, and the racing is sure to be spectacular as the Symmons Plains layout is well suited to the series’ style of racing due to the abundance of slipstreaming opportunities.

The annual visit to the Apple Isle comes at an important time in the title race too, as just three rounds remain for the season.

As it stands, reigning Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series winner Joel Heinrich holds a seven-point advantage ahead of MTA NSW’s Kody Garland, but it's the latter who heads to Tasmania as the in-form driver after a successful run in Townsville.

However, Heinrich will enter the round with plenty of confidence after securing three out of four victories in Tasmania last year. Reece Chapman was the other to taste victory, but luck hasn’t been on his side so far this season and the Guardian Interlock Services/Motorsport 25 driver will be aiming to replicate his performances from last year.

Western Sydney Motorsport’s Cody Brewczynski is a further three-points behind Garland in the standings and will be pushing to close the gap to Heinrich.

Other drivers for fans to keep an eye on include Riskie Racing’s Brandon Madden, Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins alongside Rookie Cup contending teammates Mason Harvey and Jordan Freestone, as just 12-points separate the duo.

Action Line Marking’s Scott Dornan will aim to build on his handy advantage in the Gold Cup, while Cody McKay will aim to cut Quinn’s lead in Masters Cup.

The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series will contest its usual four races at Symmons Plains as support to the Supercars’ Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18.
