Battery World Aussie Racing Cars ready for Island showdown

For the first time in six years the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series will contest a round at Phillip Island as the title race is delicately poised heading into the penultimate round.

A 31-car field will take on Phillip Island as support to the MiBike Australian Superbike Championship. This is the second time the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series will be part of the schedule following Queensland Raceway in April.

MTA NSW’s Kody Garland heads to Phillip Island with the momentum and the series lead following two round wins on the trot. However, Garland’s margin is tight making for a thrilling title conclusion as reigning series winner Joel Heinrich will aim to get his defence back on track at the Island.

Garland has recent experience at the circuit courtesy of his seasons in TCR and Heinrich won the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series title in 2018 when Phillip Island was part of the schedule.

Also well in the title hunt is Western Sydney Motorsport’s Cody Brewczynski, who has been a consistently challenger this season finishing on the podium at the previous two rounds.

Riskie Racing’s Brendon Madden is not to be discounted as he follows up his impressive rookie campaign in 2023, with a title contending run this season.

Competition Coatings driver Nathan Williams was on the pace in Tasmania and will be aiming to build on this at his home circuit.

Reece Chapman is out of the title race, but will be one to spoil the party for the contender in the Guardian Interlock Services/Motorsport 25 entry.

Gold Cup leader Scott Dornan was among the outright leaders for Action line Marking as the team expands to two entries welcoming debutant Scott Goding.

The battle for the Rookie Cup is well and truly alive within Corish Motorsports. Following a disappointing round in Tasmania, Mason Harvey will be eager to recapture his early season form as teammate Jordan Freestone’s challenge has risen in recent rounds.

Another to strike bad luck at Symmons Plains was Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins as Cody Mckay continues to make inroads.

Returning to the field this weekend for the first time since Perth is the Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises’ entry of Asher Johnston. The team has been hard at work effecting repairs following Perth and completed testing locally at Malaga prior to the round.

The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series will join the MiBike Australian Superbike Championship at Phillip Island on September 7-8.
