Joel Heinrich has completely dominated the final Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series presented by TFH race to end the opening round of the season on a high.
A rolling start was conducted for the final race of the weekend still in wet conditions, but Heinrich in the Osborn’s Transport entry soon took the lead and dominated to take the win by 15.729s from Kody Garland for MTA NSW and the Racer Industries/Motorsport25 Mustang of Reece Chapman.
Building a 2.7s gap on the first racing lap, Heinrich continued to build the margin ahead of Garland and Gold Cup leader Scott Dornan, but the latter spun the Action Line Marking entry exiting Turn 2.
Mason Harvey took advantage to take third for Corish Motorsports ahead of Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises driver Jack Boyd, Masters Cup leader Bret Osborn, MSS Group’s Scott O’Keefe and Andrew Corish.
Chapman was the big mover as he snatched third after Harvey pulled off the track as the margins between the leading contenders continue to widen.
Dornan spun again at Turn 5 as conditions gradually began to improve and a dry line appeared.
In the end, Heinrich was the class of the field by scoring victory from Garland, Chapman and Boyd.
Nathan Williams was fifth for Competition Coatings and a superb charge from Josh Andersen resulted in seventh ahead of a recovering Dornan to win Gold Cup from Hayden Nissen in the CHN Racing Camaro, who scored the Rookie Cup victory.
Osborn behind also secured the Masters Cup in ninth from the Butler Fabrication entry of Denis Butler and Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises driver Asher Johnston.
Jeff Watters failed to finish leading to Dornan and Butler being the only two classified Gold Cup runners.
Caleb Paterson finished second to Nissen in the final race as Kyle Lovering rounded out the Rookie Cup podium.
Osborn led Cody Mckay and Matt Gooding to complete the Masters Cup results for the weekend.
Earlier, Race 3 was abandoned following an incident at the start and delayed the schedule.
