Joel Heinrich leads the way early in Tasmania

The largest field to enter the annual Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series round at Symmons Plains in more than decade took to the track for opening practice as Osborn’s Transport driver Joel Heinrich led the way.

Heinrich set the pace on a 1m 01.136 from main title rival Kody Garland for MTA NSW by just 0.037s.

Western Sydney Motorsport’s Cody Brewczynski is third in the series standings and maintained this in opening practice just 0.276s off Heinrich’s benchmark.

Jascott Civil/Reynovate Constructions driver Ryan Reynolds was fourth ahead of the Rookie Cup battle between Corish Motorsport teammates Mason Harvey and Jordan Freestone.

Masters Cup was led by Cody Mckay in seventh from Reece Chapman in the Guardian Interlock Services/Motorsport 25 entry, Riskie Racing’s Brandon Madden and Scott Dornan for Action Line Marking rounded out the top 10 to lead Gold Cup.

Behind Harvey and Freestone in Rookie Cup was Precision International-supported Jacob Currie, while Mckay led Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins from MSS Group’s Scott O’Keefe.

Sciberras Racing’s Jeff Watters was second behind Dornan in Gold Cup as Chad Chapman rounded out the top three for Castrol/Motorsport25.

Qualifying is up next for the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series at Symmons Plains at 12:50pm AEST.
