Kody Garland has secured pole for the opening race of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series presented by TFH season at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Debuting his new Triple Eight Race Engineering constructed chassis, Garland made a great start to his title pursuit by scoring the prime starting position for Race 1, but last year’s series winner Joel Heinrich has placed his Osborn’s Transport entry second.
Garland led the way on a 1m 40.343s to pip Heinrich by 0.189s as Corish Motorsport’s Josh Andersen and Mason Harvey secured second row starts, with Reece Chapman rounding out the top five for Racer Industries/Motorsport25.
A superb lap from Jack Boyd resulted in sixth for the Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises driver from Jascott Civil/Reynovate Constructions’ Ryan Reynolds, Chris Mercer, Brandon Madden competing for TFH Racing this weekend and leading Rookie Cup contender Caleb Paterson completed the top 10 in the Norganic Proteins entry.
Behind Paterson in the Rookie Cup was Hayden Nissen for CNH Racing and K&S Motorsport’s Kyle Lovering.
Cody Mckay led the way from PCA Racing’s Matt Gooding and Scott O’Keefe in the MSS Group Mustang in Masters Cup.
Gold Cup continued to fall the way of Scott Dornan for Action Line Marking from Fight MND’s Jeff Watters and the Axil Coffee Roasters-supported entry of David Makin.
